The Penn State Alumni AssociationWhat’s been happening: I have the best job in the world: helping leaders around the globe manage change, manage others, or simply, manage to have more fun! I got here by adding a Ph.D. in management to my Penn State MA and working as a college administrator, primarily at the University of California, Irvine, and the University of Washington. Twenty years with twenty-year olds taught me the importance of humor as a survival tool. More importantly, I also learned its power as a leadership skill--especially when helping a staff through tough times, like those many of us now face. I left higher ed to become the principal of FUNdamentallySpeaking.com, an international speaking and training company that believes in putting the "FUN" before "da mental!" I've authored three books on humor: 1. Leave a Mark, Not a Stain! 2. What's So Funny About Long-Term Care? 3. The Obscure Holiday Handbook I'm a contributing author to: Humor Us! America's Funniest humorists on the power of laughter Along the way I discovered: There is "something" about a rubber chicken that puts all of life's problems into perspective. I fought being identified with them for years, but I kept hearing testimonials about the clever ways people used them at work. I gave in and now I embrace them, to the extent of hosting the blog: RubberChickenoftheMonthClub.wordpress.com Check it out! |
